U16 Black

4/27/08-The U-16 black team won the bronze bracket at the Evergreen Regional Tournament in Spokane.  They lost their first two matches in pool play, and then went on to win the next seven matches in a row.  This was a perfect way to end a great season!

U17

4/27/08- NCWVBC is officially "On a Roll."  Last weekend our U14 Gold became the regional champions, and this weekend the U17 team claimed the title.

Once again the girls started the day losing their first match to VIP-Chad, the #1 seed in the tournament.  Next they came up against the Splash U17 team.  It didn't look good as Splash won the first game and had NCW 21-14 in the second game.  But apparently the girls didn't want to lose, because they fought back to win the second 26-24, and then the tiebreaker 15-11.

From there NCW took no prisoners, and never lost another game for the rest of the day.  In the championship game at the end of the day they met up with VIP-Chad again, but this time they were ready.  Both teams came out gunning with NCWVBC ending up on top this time.

This group of girls are some of the smartest volleyball players I've ever seen.  They are unselfish, and put the team ahead of themselves.  They showed how much heart they really have this weekend, and deserve a trip to Dallas, TX in June where they will represent the Evergreen region in the National Junior Olympics.

U14 Gold

4/21/08-Oft referred to by tournament organizers as the “Alphabet Club,” the ladies of NCWVBC’s U14 Gold went into the April 19-20 ERVA Regional Championships in Spokane, Washington focusing on their “ABCs”—the fundamentals of the game that they love and play so well.  They effectively used these fundamentals to win all their matches (dropping only 2 games)—including a nail-biter of a semifinal game against Sandpoint and a decisive final match against VIP Juniors (who they had beat earlier in the day)—to take the top spot in the tournament.
Coach Diana Clemans and Assistant Coaches, Kimber Taylor and Apple Blossom Princess, Nicole Brown, were instrumental in helping the team develop their skills and tighten their teamwork.  And it is with these exceptional volleyball skills and ironclad teamwork that this group of 10 young women from Wenatchee, East Wenatchee, Orondo and Cashmere were also able to add three other first place tournament finishes to their record (Lights Out, Desert Classic and Mid-Season Classic).
Although they have decided to not accept the bid to the 2008 USA Junior Olympic Girls Volleyball Championship, in the words of Coach Clemans to the team as they celebrated their win, “It was a stellar way to end the season.”
A final note from the parents of the U14 Gold Team: We, as a group of parents, recognize the incredible sacrifice that Diana Clemans, Nicole Brown and Kimber Taylor have made to lead our daughters through this amazingly successful season.  Leaving their families to practice with the team 2-3 nights a week and to travel to 10 weekend tournaments  in 4 months does not come without a price.  While we’ve all made investments to develop our daughters’ skills, their coaching—on and off the court—has also taught our daughters profound life skills that you can’t easily buy.  It is with deep gratitude for their time and appreciation for their families’ sacrifice that we say, “Thank you.”
